This sale is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — the hard drive itself is not included. Because we stock a large number of similar PCBs, the exact board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. Intended use: hard drive repair or data recovery. Most WD PCBs store unique configuration data in a ROM ("memory") chip; that data is required for the drive to function correctly. The ROM chip or its contents must be transferred to the replacement board, either by physically moving the chip or by reprogramming the new PCB with the correct ROM data. If you are able to have the ROM chip moved locally, a computer repair technician can typically perform that task. For customers spending $60 or more, we include a complimentary adaptation service that covers either transplanting the ROM chip onto the replacement board or reprogramming the board with the proper ROM data.
