This sale is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB/logic board) ONLY — no hard drive is included. Because we stock a large number of PCBs, the actual board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. The PCB is supplied for hard drive repair or data recovery work. Before purchasing, confirm that a replacement board will resolve your issue by following our hard drive diagnostics guide, and verify compatibility using the Donor Matching Guide. Many WD PCBs contain unique information stored in the ROM ("memory") chip that is required for the drive to function correctly. That ROM data must be moved to the replacement board or the replacement board must be reprogrammed with the correct ROM contents. If a physical transfer of the ROM chip is possible, a local computer technician should be able to perform the soldering or chip move. For customers spending $60 or more we provide a complimentary adaptation service that includes either transferring the ROM chip to the new PCB or reprogramming the new board with the correct ROM data.
