This listing is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — the hard drive itself is not included. Because we keep a large inventory, the PCB you receive may differ slightly in appearance from the photo. These boards are intended for hard drive repair and data recovery tasks. Before ordering, confirm compatibility by consulting our Donor Matching Guide and follow the hard drive diagnostics guide to determine whether a PCB replacement will resolve your issue. Most WD PCBs store unique configuration data in a ROM (memory) chip; that ROM data is required for the drive to function correctly. The ROM chip or its contents must be transferred to the replacement board, or the new board must be reprogrammed with the correct ROM data. If you cannot move the chip yourself, a local computer technician can usually perform the transfer. For customers who spend $60 or more we provide a complimentary adaptation service that covers either moving the ROM chip to the new PCB or reprogramming the board with the proper ROM data.
