Item is the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — the drive itself is not included. Because we stock a large number of PCBs, the exact board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. This PCB is sold for hard drive repair and data-recovery use. Before purchasing, confirm that a replacement board will address your problem by following our hard drive diagnostics guide, and verify compatibility using the Donor Matching Guide. Most WD 3.5" SATA PCBs store critical, unique data in a ROM (memory) chip; that ROM data is required for the drive to function correctly. The ROM chip or its contents must be transferred to the replacement board (or the replacement board must be reprogrammed with the correct ROM data). If the ROM can be physically moved, a local computer technician can typically perform the transplant. For orders of $60.00 or more we include a complimentary adaptation service, which covers either relocating the ROM chip onto the new PCB or programming the new board with the proper ROM data.
