This listing is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — no hard drive is included. Because we stock a large number of PCBs, the actual board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. These replacement PCBs are intended for hard drive repair or data recovery work. Most WD PCBs contain unique information stored in a ROM ("memory") chip that is required for the drive to operate correctly; the ROM chip or its data must be transferred to the replacement board. If relocation of the ROM chip is feasible, a local computer technician can usually perform the transfer. For orders of $60 or more we provide a complimentary adaptation service that includes either transplanting the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprogramming the replacement board with the correct ROM data.
