This listing is for a hard drive printed circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — no hard drive is included. Because we stock a large number of PCBs, the actual board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. These replacement PCBs are intended for hard drive repair and data recovery tasks. Before purchasing, confirm that a PCB swap will resolve your issue by following our hard drive diagnostics guide and verify compatibility using the Donor Matching Guide. Most WD PCBs hold unique information in a ROM "memory" chip; that data is required for the drive to function correctly. The ROM chip itself, or its contents, must be transferred or reprogrammed onto the replacement board. If you cannot perform the transfer, a local computer technician can usually move the chip. For customers spending $60 or more we provide a complimentary adaptation service that includes either transplanting the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprogramming the replacement board with the correct ROM data.
