This listing is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — the hard drive itself is not included. Because we stock a large number of PCBs, the exact board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. Intended use: data recovery and hard drive repair. Before purchasing, confirm that a PCB swap will resolve your issue by following our hard drive diagnostics guide, and verify compatibility using the Donor Matching Guide. Many WD PCBs store unique factory data in the ROM (memory) chip; that information is required for the drive to function correctly. The ROM chip or its data must be moved or copied to the replacement board. If you cannot perform this transfer yourself, a local computer technician should be able to transplant the chip or reprogram the board. For orders of $60 or more we include a complimentary adaptation service, which covers either transplanting the ROM chip onto the replacement PCB or programming the new board with the correct ROM data.
