This listing is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — the hard drive is not included. Because we maintain a large inventory, the exact PCB you receive may differ slightly from the photo. Intended use: data recovery and hard drive repair. Most WD PCBs store unique calibration and configuration data in a ROM "memory" chip; that ROM data is required for the drive to function properly. The ROM chip or its data must be transferred to the replacement board. If transplanting the chip is feasible, a local computer technician can typically perform the swap. For customers with orders of $60 or more, we include a complimentary adaptation service — either moving the ROM chip to the new PCB or reprogramming the replacement with the correct ROM data.
