This listing is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) only — the hard drive itself is NOT included. Because we maintain a large inventory, the actual PCB you receive may differ slightly from the photo. Intended use: data recovery and hard drive repair. Before purchasing, confirm that replacing the PCB will resolve your issue by following our hard drive diagnostics guide, and verify compatibility using the Donor Matching Guide. Most WD PCBs store unique firmware data on a ROM "memory" chip; that information is required for the drive to operate correctly. The ROM chip or its data must be transferred to the replacement board. If the chip can be moved, a local computer technician can typically perform the transplant. For orders of $60 or more we include a complimentary adaptation service: we will either move the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprogram the replacement board with the proper ROM data.
