Product is the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — the hard drive itself is not included. Because we stock large quantities, the exact PCB you receive may differ slightly from the photo. This replacement board is intended for hard drive repair and data recovery work. Before buying, confirm a PCB swap will resolve your issue by following our hard drive Diagnostics Guide, and verify compatibility using the Donor Matching Guide. Most WD PCBs contain unique configuration data stored in a ROM memory chip; that ROM data is required for the drive to operate correctly. The ROM chip or its contents must be transferred or programmed onto the replacement board. If the ROM chip can be physically moved, a local computer technician can usually perform the transplant; alternatively, the ROM can be reprogrammed. For orders of $60 or more we provide a complimentary adaptation service that includes either moving the ROM chip to the new PCB or reprogramming the replacement board with the correct ROM data.
