Item is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — no hard drive is included. Because we stock large quantities, the actual PCB you receive may differ slightly from the photo. This PCB is intended for hard drive repair and data recovery work. Before purchasing, confirm that a replacement board will fix your drive by following our hard drive diagnostics guide and checking compatibility with the Donor Matching Guide. Most WD circuit boards store unique information in a ROM "memory" chip; that data is required for the drive to function correctly. The ROM chip (or its contents) must be transferred to the replacement board, or the new board must be reprogrammed with the correct ROM data. If the ROM chip can be moved, a local computer technician can usually perform the transplant. For customers with orders of $60 or more, we include a complimentary adaptation service that covers either moving the ROM chip to the new PCB or programming the replacement with the proper ROM data.
