Because we have a large inventory, the exact board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. Intended for use in hard drive repair or data recovery tasks. Most WD circuit boards store unique parameters in a ROM "memory" chip; that ROM data is required for correct drive operation. The ROM chip or its contents must be transferred to the replacement board — if the chip can be moved, a local computer technician can usually perform the transfer. For customers spending $60 or more we provide a complimentary adaptation service, which covers either transplanting the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprogramming the replacement board with the correct ROM data.
