This sale is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — the hard drive itself is not included. Because we maintain a large inventory, the exact PCB you receive may differ slightly from the photo. Purpose: designed for hard drive repair and data-recovery work. Important technical note: most replacement PCBs contain unique drive-specific data stored in the ROM ("memory") chip. That ROM data is required for the drive to operate properly, so the ROM chip or its contents must be transferred to the new board. If physical transplant of the chip is possible, a local computer technician can usually perform the transfer; otherwise the replacement board must be reprogrammed with the correct ROM data. For customers spending $60 or more, we include a complimentary adaptation service that either moves the ROM chip to the new PCB or reprograms the new board with the correct ROM contents.
