Product is the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — no hard drive is included. Because we stock a large number of PCBs, the exact board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. This PCB is intended for use in hard drive repair or data recovery projects. Confirm compatibility before purchase by reviewing our Donor Matching Guide and determine whether replacing the PCB will resolve your issue by using our hard drive diagnostics guide. Most WD PCBs contain unique configuration data stored in a ROM "memory" chip; that information is required for the drive to function correctly. The ROM chip itself, or its data, must be transferred to the replacement board. If the ROM can be physically moved, a local computer technician can usually perform the swap. For customers who spend $60 or more, we include a complimentary adaptation service: we will either transplant the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprogram the replacement board with the correct ROM data.
