This listing is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — the hard drive itself is not included. Because we keep a large inventory, the actual PCB you receive may differ slightly from the photo. Intended use: data recovery and hard drive repair. Before purchasing, confirm that a replacement PCB will resolve your issue by consulting our hard drive diagnostics guide. Also verify compatibility using the Donor Matching Guide. Most WD PCBs store unique drive-specific data in a ROM (memory) chip; that data is required for the drive to operate correctly. The ROM chip or its contents must be transferred to the replacement board. If physical chip transfer is possible, a local computer technician should be able to perform it. For orders of $60 or more we include complimentary adaptation service, which covers either transplanting the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprogramming the replacement board with the correct ROM data.
