This listing is for the hard drive printed circuit board (PCB / logic board) only — the hard drive itself is not included. Because we stock a large number of these boards, the exact PCB you receive may differ slightly from the photo. Intended use: data recovery or HDD repair. Many of these boards store unique calibration and configuration data in a ROM "memory" chip; that ROM data is required for the drive to function. The ROM chip (or its contents) must be transferred to the replacement board — if the chip can be moved physically, a local computer technician can usually perform the swap. For orders of $60 or more we include a complimentary adaptation service that covers either transplanting the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprogramming the replacement board with the correct ROM data.
