This listing is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — the actual hard drive is not included. Because we maintain a large stock of PCBs, the unit you receive may differ slightly from the photo. Intended purpose: data recovery and hard drive repair. Most HDD PCBs store unique system data in a ROM memory chip; that information is required for the drive to function properly. The ROM chip or its contents must be transferred or programmed onto the replacement board. If you cannot perform the transfer yourself, a local computer technician can usually transplant the chip. For customers with orders of $60 or more, we include complimentary adaptation service — either transplanting the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprogramming the replacement board with the correct ROM data.
