Item is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — the hard drive itself is not included. Because we maintain a large inventory, the actual PCB you receive may differ slightly from the photo. This PCB is supplied for hard drive repair and data recovery work. Before purchasing, confirm that a PCB swap will resolve your problem by following our hard drive diagnostics guide and verifying compatibility using the Donor Matching Guide. Many WD PCBs store unique calibration and firmware information in a ROM memory chip; that data is required for the drive to operate correctly. The ROM chip or its contents must be moved to the replacement board or the new board must be reprogrammed with the correct ROM data. If you are not able to transfer the chip yourself, a qualified computer technician can usually perform the transfer. For orders of $60 or more we provide a complimentary adaptation service: we will either transplant the ROM chip onto the new PCB or program the replacement board with the proper ROM data.
