This listing is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) only — the hard drive itself is NOT included. Because we stock a large number of PCBs, the exact board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. These replacement PCBs are intended for hard drive repair and data recovery tasks. Most WD PCBs store unique calibration and configuration data in a ROM (memory) chip; that ROM data must be present on the replacement board for proper drive operation. If possible, the ROM chip can be physically transferred to the new PCB by a local computer technician, or the correct ROM contents can be reprogrammed onto the replacement board.
