This listing is strictly for the hard drive PCB (logic board) only — no hard drive is included. Because we stock a large number of boards, the exact PCB you receive may differ slightly from the photo. These circuit boards are intended for hard drive repair and data recovery tasks. Most WD PCBs store vital, drive-specific information in a ROM memory chip; that ROM data is required for the drive to function correctly. The ROM chip or its contents must be transferred to the replacement board. If the chip can be physically moved, a local computer technician can usually perform the transplant. For customers spending $60 or more we include a complimentary adaptation service that will either transplant the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprogram the replacement board with the correct ROM data.
