Because we stock many PCBs, the actual board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. Purpose and compatibility: This circuit board is intended for hard drive repair or data recovery. Important ROM information: Many WD PCBs store unique drive parameters in a ROM ("memory") chip. That ROM data is required for the drive to operate correctly and must be transferred to the replacement board. If the ROM chip can be physically moved to the new PCB, a local computer technician can usually perform that task. Alternatively, the ROM contents can be reprogrammed onto the new board.
