This listing is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY. No hard drive is included! Because we stock a large number of boards, the exact PCB you receive may differ slightly from the photo. This part is intended for use in data recovery and HDD repair projects. Most Western Digital PCBs store unique drive-specific data in a ROM (memory) chip; that ROM contents are required for the drive to operate correctly. The ROM chip (or its data) must be transferred or reprogrammed onto the replacement board. If the ROM can be physically moved, a local technician can usually perform the swap. For orders of $60 or more we include a complimentary adaptation service — either transplanting the ROM chip onto the new PCB or programming the correct ROM data into the replacement board.
