This listing is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — the hard drive itself is not included. Because we stock a large number of PCBs, the unit you receive may differ slightly from the pictured board. Intended use: data recovery or repair of compatible WD drives. Before purchasing, verify that a PCB swap will resolve your problem by consulting our hard drive diagnostics guide, and confirm compatibility using the Donor Matching Guide. Most hard drive PCBs contain unique firmware data stored in a ROM ("memory") chip; that data is required for the drive to operate correctly. The ROM chip or its contents must be transferred to the replacement board (or the replacement board must be reprogrammed with the correct ROM data). If the ROM chip can be physically moved to the new PCB, a local computer technician can usually perform that task. For purchases of $60 or more we provide a complimentary adaptation service: we will either transplant the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprogram the replacement board with the proper ROM data.
