This listing is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — no hard drive is included. Because we stock large quantities of PCBs, the exact board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. Intended use: data recovery and hard drive repair. Many WD PCBs store unique information on a ROM ("memory") chip that is required for the drive to function correctly. That ROM chip, or its data, must be transferred to the replacement board. If the ROM can be physically moved, a local computer technician can typically perform the transfer. For customers who spend $60 or more, we include a complimentary adaptation service: we will either transplant the ROM chip onto your new PCB or reprogram the replacement board with the correct ROM data.
