This listing is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — no hard drive is included. Because we stock a large quantity of boards, the exact PCB you receive may differ slightly from the photo. These replacement PCBs are intended for hard drive repair and data-recovery work. Most WD PCBs contain unique data stored in the ROM ("memory") chip that is required for the drive to operate correctly. That ROM chip or its data must be transferred or programmed onto the replacement board. If you cannot perform the transfer yourself, a local computer technician can usually move the chip to the new PCB. For orders of $60 or more we include a complimentary adaptation service — either transplanting the ROM chip onto the new board or reprogramming the replacement PCB with the correct ROM data.
