This listing is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — no hard drive is included. Because we stock large quantities of PCBs, the item you receive may differ slightly from the photo. This board is intended for hard drive repair or data recovery work. Before purchasing, confirm compatibility by following our Donor Matching Guide and run the steps in our hard drive diagnostics guide to determine whether a PCB swap will resolve the problem. Many WD PCBs store unique settings in a ROM "memory" chip; that ROM or its data must be transferred to the replacement board for the drive to operate correctly. If the ROM can be physically moved, a local computer technician should be able to perform the transfer. For orders of $60 or more we include a complimentary adaptation service, which covers either transplanting the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprogramming the replacement board with the correct ROM data.
