This sale is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — the hard drive itself is not included. Because we maintain a large inventory, the PCB you receive may differ slightly from the photo. This board is supplied for hard drive repair and data recovery work. Before ordering, confirm compatibility by consulting our Donor Matching Guide and verify that a PCB swap will resolve your issue using the Hard Drive Diagnostics Guide. Many WD PCBs store unique calibration and configuration data in a ROM (memory) chip; that information is required for the drive to operate correctly. The ROM chip or its data must be transferred to the replacement board. If the ROM chip can be physically moved, a local computer technician can typically perform the transplant; alternatively reprogramming the new board with the correct ROM data is an option. For customers spending $60 or more we provide a complimentary adaptation service that includes either moving the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprogramming the board with the proper ROM data.
