This sale is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) only — the hard drive is not included. Because we stock a large number of PCBs, the exact board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. These PCBs are intended for use in hard drive repair or data recovery work. Before purchasing, confirm whether a replacement board will resolve your issue by following our Hard Drive Diagnostics Guide and verify compatibility with the Donor Matching Guide. Most WD circuit boards store unique configuration data in a ROM "memory" chip; that ROM data is required for the drive to function properly. The ROM chip or its contents must be transferred to the replacement PCB. If you cannot perform the chip transplant or reprogramming yourself, a local computer technician can usually perform the procedure. For orders of $60 or more we include a complimentary adaptation service, which covers moving the ROM chip to the new board or reprogramming the replacement PCB with the correct ROM data.
