Item is for the hard drive PCB / logic board ONLY — no hard drive is included. Because we stock a large number of PCBs, the exact board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. This circuit board is intended for hard drive repair or data recovery applications. Before purchasing, confirm that a replacement PCB will resolve your issue by following our hard drive diagnostics guide and checking compatibility with the Donor Matching Guide. Most WD PCBs hold unique configuration data in a ROM ("memory") chip; that information is required for the drive to function properly. The ROM chip or its data must be transferred to the replacement board. If transfer by chip removal is possible, a local computer technician can typically perform the job. For orders of $60 or more we provide a complimentary adaptation service that covers either transplanting the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprogramming the replacement board with the correct ROM data.
