This listing is for the hard drive circuit board / logic board only — the hard drive itself is not included. Because we keep a large inventory of PCBs, the exact board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. These replacement PCBs are intended for use in hard drive repair and data recovery projects. Most hard drive PCBs store unique configuration data in the ROM "memory" chip; that data is required for the drive to function correctly. The ROM chip (or its contents) must be transferred or reprogrammed onto the replacement board. If you cannot perform the ROM transfer yourself, a local computer technician can usually desolder/resolder the chip. For customers whose order totals $60 or more, we provide a complimentary adaptation service that either moves the ROM chip to the new PCB or programs the replacement board with the correct ROM data.
