This sale is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — no hard drive is included. Because we maintain a large inventory, the exact PCB you receive may differ slightly from the photo. Designed for hard drive repair and data recovery, this replacement PCB can be used when a board-level fault is suspected. Most WD PCBs store unique configuration data in a ROM memory chip. That ROM contents are required for the drive to function correctly, so the ROM chip or its data must be transferred to the replacement board. If the chip can be physically moved to the new PCB, a local computer technician can usually perform that task. For customers with orders of $60 or more we provide a complimentary adaptation service, which covers either relocating the ROM chip onto the replacement PCB or reprogramming the new board with the correct ROM data.
