This sale is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) only — the hard drive itself is not included. We keep a large inventory, so the PCB you receive may differ slightly from the photo. The board is intended for HDD repair and data-recovery applications. Before ordering, confirm that a PCB swap is the correct fix by following our hard drive diagnostics guide and verify compatibility using the Donor Matching Guide. Most WD PCBs store unique drive information in a ROM memory chip; that ROM data is required for the drive to function correctly. The ROM chip or its contents must be moved to the replacement board or the board must be reprogrammed with the correct ROM data. A local computer technician can usually perform the chip transplant; alternatively, for orders of $60 or more we provide a free adaptation service which includes either moving the ROM chip to the new PCB or reprogramming the replacement with the proper ROM.
