This sale includes only the hard drive printed circuit board (PCB / logic board); the hard drive itself is not included. Because we stock a large number of these PCBs, the exact board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. These PCBs are intended for hard drive repair and data recovery tasks. Before purchasing, confirm that a replacement board will address your issue by following our hard drive diagnostics guide, and verify compatibility using the Donor Matching Guide. Most WD PCBs store unique drive-specific data on a ROM “memory” chip; that information is required for the drive to operate correctly. The ROM chip (or its firmware data) must therefore be transferred to the replacement board or the new board must be reprogrammed with the correct ROM contents. If physical transfer of the chip is possible, a local computer technician can usually perform the transplant. For orders of $60 or more we provide a complimentary adaptation service that includes either moving the ROM chip to the new PCB or reprogramming the replacement board with the proper ROM data.
