This replacement board is intended for hard drive repair and data recovery work. Most hard drive circuit boards store unique, required information in the ROM "memory" chip; that ROM or its data must be transferred to the replacement board for the drive to operate correctly. When possible the ROM chip can be physically moved to the new PCB — a local computer technician can usually perform this. For purchases of $60 or more we provide a complimentary adaptation service that either transfers the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprograms the replacement board with the correct ROM data.
