This listing is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — hard drive is not included. Because we stock a large number of PCBs, the actual board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. Intended use: data recovery and hard drive repair. Most Western Digital PCBs store unique service data in a ROM (memory) chip; that data is required for the drive to function correctly. The ROM chip or its contents must be transferred to the replacement board. If the ROM chip can be physically moved, a local computer technician can usually perform the transfer. For customers with orders of $60 or more we provide a complimentary adaptation service, which includes either transplanting the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprogramming the replacement board with the correct ROM data.
