This sale is for the hard drive PCB / logic board only — no hard drive is included. Due to large stock levels the exact circuit board you receive may vary slightly from the photo. This replacement PCB is intended for use in data recovery and hard drive repair. Most WD PCBs store unique drive-specific information in a ROM (memory) chip; that data is required for the drive to operate correctly. The ROM chip or its contents must be transferred to the replacement board (or the new board reprogrammed with the correct ROM data). If you cannot perform chip transfer yourself, a local computer technician can usually move the ROM chip for you. For customers spending $60.00 or more we include a complimentary adaptation service that covers either transplanting the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprogramming the replacement board with the proper ROM data.
