It measures current in either direction, so the wiring need not change between battery charging and discharging. A minus sign marks the current reading during charging.
Readings reach the display through a 1 meter USB cable or the built-in wireless module, which has a range of up to 10 meters. The display module has a sandblasted, oxidized shell and touch buttons. Self-calibration addresses zero drift. The display has three interfaces, including a default large-font view of voltage, current, capacity and temperature.
Its full-function view allows parameter settings and a black-on-white display option for sunlight. The VAT1200 is listed for 100V, 12V, 24V and 48V applications.
