Elisabeth W Joyce Poetry Books: Susan Howe sku-15695196

In The Small Space of a Pause, Elisabeth W Joyce examines Susan Howe's poetry through its treatment of space. The Poetry Books title, SKU sku-15695196, considers historical silences, page margins, migrants without a fixed place and uncharted lands as the in-between spaces where Howe's work takes shape.

It draws on Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari's idea of becoming to discuss how these spaces hold both presence and displacement. Joyce also explores the shifting, self-questioning nature of third space and the role of nomadism in Howe's portrayal of movement, violence and loss of place. Hardcover.
