Marcus Garvey African History Books, Vol. IX sku-25345259

Marcus Garvey African History Books, sku-25345259, includes Volume IX of The Marcus Garvey and Universal Negro Improvement Association Papers: Africa for the Africans, covering June 1921 through December 1922 (Series #9, Edition 1, hardcover). "Africa for the Africans" was the name used in Africa for the Black social protest movement led by Jamaican Marcus Mosiah Garvey (1887-1940).

Volumes I-VII chronicle the movement in the United States during the 1920s. The African volumes, VIII and IX, with Volume X forthcoming, document Africans' central role in developing Garveyism into an African social movement. They collect documents on early African nationalism between the world wars and trace the spread of Garvey's call for African redemption and the colonial repression it faced.

Volume VIII begins in 1917 with Pan-African commercial schemes that preceded Garveyism and early African responses to the UNIA. Volume IX documents UNIA chapters across Africa and presents evidence linking Garveyism to emerging Namibian nationalism.
