Bruce Spizer Musical Instruction Book | sku-38310808

Bruce Spizer's The Beatles Are Coming! is an Edition 1 hardcover listed under Musical Instruction (sku-38310808). It covers the Beatles' first U.S. visit and the events leading to their arrival on February 7, 1964, and is described as the most thorough and accurate book published on the development of Beatlemania in America.

It recounts why Capitol Records rejected the group four times before agreeing to release their records, and how Vee-Jay and Swan issued their records without success in 1963. The book also examines late-1963 American media coverage, when Beatlemania was seen as an English fad unlikely to catch on in the United States.

It explains the bookings for The Jack Paar Program, The Ed Sullivan Show and two Carnegie Hall concerts, then closes with stories and pictures from the February 1964 visit. There are over 450 images, including previously unpublished photos, and a foreword by Walter Cronkite.
