The Supermicro Super DOM is a compact SATA3 (6Gb/s) Disk-on-Module flash storage device engineered to plug directly into a serverboard SATA connector and emulate a traditional hard disk. As a solid-state module it contains no moving parts, offering reduced weight and size plus much lower power draw and latency compared with mechanical HDDs (~1W-2W per SATA DOM vs. 6W-7W for an HDD). Designed for high reliability and speed, the Supermicro Super DOM delivers up to 2x the performance of other SATA DOM products on the market. Its refined architecture eliminates the need for a separate 5V power cable in typical installations, while still remaining backward compatible with server boards that require a 5V connection. Available capacities: 128GB, 64GB, 32GB, and 16GB. The SSD-DM032-SMCMVN1 (32GB) is fully supported across all Supermicro Super Server® platforms and solutions. Typical applications include use as a boot drive, OS installation medium (replacing CD/DVD-ROMs), license or recovery drive, embedded storage for harsh environments where mechanical HDDs would fail, or in thin clients where compact size and low power are critical.
