Asher D Biemann Inventing New Beginnings sku-604710306

Inventing New Beginnings by Asher D Biemann, sku-604710306, is listed under Religion & Religious Studies Books. It is the first book-length study of the ideas behind the "Jewish Renaissance," a return to Judaism that drew much of German-speaking Jewry between 1890 and 1938.

The book asks what "renaissance" meant to its intellectuals and ideologues, how their understanding related to wider European intellectual and cultural currents of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and how modernity shapes the idea of renaissance as a mode of thought that extends to the present.
