Lori Allen | All Books: Human Rights book sku-22333211
No rating yet(0 reviews)Lori Allen's The Rise and Fall of Human Rights is a hardcover in All Books, SKU sku-22333211. This ethnographic study follows Palestinian human rights NGOs, activists and people identified as victims, examining their politics, training and discourse since 1979. Human rights work began as a way to resist Israeli occupation.
Its failure to end the occupation, protect basic rights or establish an accountable Palestinian government has led many Palestinians to view the human rights industry with cynicism. Allen examines how that cynicism fuels criticism of domestic politics and Western intervention, alongside the successes and failures of Palestinians' efforts to use human rights in their pursuit of independence.
