The Sportsman GEN4000TRI is a Multicolor portable generator listed under Generators. It runs on natural gas (NG), propane (LPG) or unleaded gasoline. Rated at 4000 surge watts (4,000) and 3,500 running watts, it can power an RV, household appliances and tools. Its compact size and weight make it easier to transport. The 7.0 HP, 4650 RPM, 4-stroke, 212cc OHV engine is air cooled and recoil started.

At 50 percent load, it runs for 10 hours on a full 3.6-gallon gas tank or 12 hours on a full 20 lb. propane tank. Oil capacity is 18.5 oz. of SAE 10W30. It has UL-listed electrical components, an engine shutoff switch, AC reset, AVR automatic voltage regulation, low-oil shutdown and a voltmeter. Noise is rated below 68 dB with no load at 24 feet.

Included are separate LPG and natural-gas adapters, DC connector wires for charging 12 Volt automotive-type batteries, a spark plug wrench, a screwdriver and a 5 ft. regulator hose kit. The generator is not recommended above 3,000 ft.; at 3,000 feet above sea level, reduced airflow through the carburetor may affect operation.

It is EPA approved, is not CARB compliant and is not for sale in California. Compared with gasoline, surge and running watts may fall by 10% on propane or 20% on natural gas. Read the instruction manual before use. For LPG, use the supplied LP regulator for safe operation.

For NG, supply pressure must be 4 TO 6 OUNCES or 7 TO 11 INCHES W.C. (water column); the primary fuel-supply regulator must deliver enough gas at that pressure.
