The Sony a7R IIIA combines extreme resolution with fast performance and extensive multimedia features. At its heart is a full-frame 42.4-megapixel Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor paired with the BIONZ X image processor and a high-speed front-end LSI. The back-illuminated sensor design, gapless on-chip lens architecture, anti-reflection coating, and the removal of the optical low-pass filter all work together to increase light gathering and sharpen detail. A copper wiring layer boosts data transmission so the camera can produce 14-bit, high-resolution 42.4-megapixel images. Native sensitivity spans ISO 100-32000 and can be expanded to ISO 50-102400. For video, the camera records internal UHD 4K using the full width of the full-frame sensor and supports a wide dynamic range. The processor and front-end LSI enable fast processing and allow capture of up to a 15-stop dynamic range at low sensitivities. Continuous burst shooting reaches up to 10 fps at full resolution for as many as 76 consecutive frames while maintaining full-time AF/AE. Other notable capabilities include a 399-point AF system, Pixel Shift Multi Shooting, and 5-axis SteadyShot INSIDE stabilization to help retain sharpness.
