The source describes nanmu as a lustrous, decay-resistant wood used by royal families during the Ming dynasty, including for pillars of the Forbidden City, and says fossilized nanmu is known as Black Wood and can cost thousands of dollars per cubic meter. The maple vault has a tight grain and smooth texture. Production was limited to 675 sets, each with a certificate of authenticity.
