It is designed for outboard, inboard and sterndrive vessels with hydraulic or mechanical steering. A built-in NMEA 0183 Loran/GPS interface can pilot to the next waypoint.

The waterproof control head mounts flush or on a surface and has a backlit display with ten brightness levels. Digital displays show rudder angle and operating mode. Automatic Sea State and Trim controls offer 10 levels of rudder sensitivity and high- and low-speed settings. Rudder feedback checks autopilot commands; Ghost Rudder uses remembered movements if feedback fails.

Heading Output can stabilize a radar display. The unit also has diagnostics, self-tests, visual and audible alarms, push-button Power Steering and a Stand-By mode for manual steering. An SI-TEX SP-70 handheld control unit can add a second station; an analog rudder angle indicator is optional. It also works with solenoid valves.
