Nneoma V Nwogu Shaping Truth Hardcover sku-751584268

Shaping Truth, Reshaping Justice by Nneoma V Nwogu (sku-751584268) is a hardcover title listed under African History Books. It examines Nigeria's Human Rights Violations Investigation Commission and compares aspects of its truth-telling forum with South African and Latin American commissions.

Using a prominent Nigerian ethnic conflict as a case study, Nwogu argues that political elites used the commission to reshape ethnic histories, mobilize supporters, claim political territory and seek national resources. She argues that the government's actions limited the justice the commission could deliver and, with it, the prospect of reconciliation.

The book presents the commission, intended to signal a break with the past, as showing continuity with it.
