SeedRanch Kentucky 31 tall fescue grass seed comes in a 10 Lbs bag and is listed as Pennington under Lawn Care. Also called K 31, the grass was introduced to the United States from Europe in the early 1800s and became established in North American pastures and lawns.

It is now used mainly for turf: agronomists no longer recommend it for livestock pasture because it contains endophytes, naturally occurring fungi that help protect the grass from insects and disease. The listing describes an economical, easy-to-establish lawn grass with good traffic and drought tolerance and more heat tolerance than other tall fescue varieties.

It also describes a light green, coarse, open lawn appearance, while its specifications list dark green color and moderately fine texture. Plant in full sun to medium shade, with 4-8 hours of daily sun; sun tolerance is rated very good, shade tolerance moderate, drought and disease resistance excellent, and traffic tolerance good.

Listed planting zones are 1,2,3,5,6,7,8 and the upper parts of 9 and 12. Plant in early spring or early fall at 8 lbs/1,000 sq ft for new lawns or 4 lbs/1,000 sq ft for overseeding, at a depth of 1/8 inches. Germination takes 7-21 days; mow to 3-4 inches. SKU: sku-491201092. UPC: 608887460476.
