This listing is for the hard drive printed circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — the hard drive is not included. Most Seagate PCBs store unique drive-specific data in the ROM chip (sometimes called the memory chip). That ROM data is required for the drive to function correctly and must be transferred to or programmed onto the replacement board. If the ROM chip can be physically moved to the new PCB, a local computer technician can usually perform the transplant.
